Designations

Appraisal Designations and Accrediting Bodies Appraisal is a profession with designations and accreditations that reflect education and years of appraisal experience.  Our appraisers hold or are completing one or more of the following designations:

ASA - Accredited Senior Appraiser, American Society of Appraisers (ASA)

To qualify for Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) status, an individual must have a minimum of five (5) years of full-time appraisal experience or the equivalent, must have completed the ASA coursework and hold a four (4) year college degree. The American Society of Appraisers is a world-renowned and respected international organization devoted to the appraisal profession. AM - Accredited Member, American Society of Appraisers (ASA)

Professional appraisers with at least two (2) years of full-time appraisal experience or the equivalent are may qualify for the for Accredited Member (AM) status. The American Society of Appraisers is a world-renowned and respected international organization devoted to the appraisal profession. P.App, AACI - Accredited Appraiser, Canadian Institute (AACI)

Professionals with AACI certification may use the Professional Appraiser designation (P.App.). Designated Members The AACI designation is granted to individuals who have completed the AACI program of studies and fulfilled all the professional requirements of the Appraisal Institute of Canada. AACI Members are qualified to offer valuation and consulting services and expertise for all types of real property. Candidate Members Those who meet the education and admission requirements are eligible to become Candidate Members of the Appraisal Institute of Canada.  Candidate Members work under the mentorship of Designated Members and are usually fulfilling their work experience requirements to become fully designated. The Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC) is a leading real property valuation association with over 5,000 members. The AIC grants the distinguished Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI) and Canadian Residential Appraiser (CRA) designations. CBV - Chartered Business Valuator (CBV)

CBV's are respected and recognized as experts by the courts in cases involving financial matters, such as shareholder or partnership disputes, securities law, intellectual property disputes, family law, breach of contract, insurance claims and personal injury claims, amongst many others. CBV's also facilitate informed decision making by management teams, boards of directors and government agencies. Whether it is in the context of mergers and acquisitions, succession planning, strategic planning or reorganizations, CBV's are recognized as experts when it comes to business valuation. CRM - Canadian Risk Management (CRM)

 The Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation is a widely recognized qualification that provides risk managers a foundation of knowledge and skills needed to identify, assess, monitor and limit risks. The CRM is recognized by the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) and awarded by the Global Risk Management Institute (GRMI). Attaining the CRM designation demonstrates a level of professional commitment, knowledge and skills that employers in both public and private sectors recognize. CCPI - Canadian Certified Playground Inspector (CCPI)

The Canadian Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA) currently offers a playground inspector certification program to individuals who successfully complete the theory and practical training courses through the Canadian Playground Safety Institute (CPSI). This program will help individuals understand "CAN/CSA Z614  Children’s Playspaces and Equipment” manual and to learn how to conduct a hands-on inspection / audit of their playspace. MRICS - Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS)

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is a professional body that accredits professionals within the land, property and construction sectors worldwide. Members holding RICS qualifications may use the following designations after their name: MRICS, FRICS or AssocRICS. Those with the designation MRICS or FRICS are also known as chartered surveyors.
