The Role

Reporting to the Director of IT Services, the Senior Software Developer is pivotal to our software development team. As a technical leader, the Senior Software Developer will work with a small team of developers in our Saskatoon office, to enhance, maintain, and develop software that is critical to sustaining and streamlining business operations.

In this role you will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle including determining requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and support. The Senior Software Developer will work closely with stakeholders to identify requirements and set priorities and deadlines. Along with software development, the incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance and expansion of our reporting systems including client-facing and internal management reports. Supporting the existing and new software post deployment is also a key part of this role.

The Requirements

  • Post-secondary Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five to eight years professional software development experience.
  • One year of experience in a related position demonstrating technical leadership.
  • Project management experience in some aspects of the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience designing and developing multi-tiered software applications.
  • Expertise in .NET programming (VB or C#), and TSQL
  • Expertise with ADO.NET in a stateful mode.
  • Experience with Winforms development in Visual Studio
  • Knowledge of MS SQL Server.
  • Experience with source control tools.
  • Knowledge of Crystal Reports or similar report writer.
  • Strong Database skills with understanding of SQL, relational databases, and SQL optimization.
  • Experience in the creation of stored procedures/functions, triggers and other database objects.
  • Understanding of networking protocols and technologies.
  • Proficiency with Windows operating systems and domain environments.
  • This position is restricted to those legally entitled to work in Canada.

Meet Daniel Guy, B.Sc., Senior Valuation Consultant

Danny joined Suncorp Valuations in 2017. Prior to this, Danny accumulated 39 years of experience in the valuation industry and has been involved in many complex engagements for a myriad of uses from financial reporting (IFRS/FASB/ASPE/IASB), to purchase price allocation, to insurance placement. Danny has served public sector entities, privately held companies, and many publicly traded corporations. Danny holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Concordia University. THE ROLE

Reporting to the Manager of Administration in Saskatoon, this position is pivotal in sustaining business operations through internal and external client support activities in the Saskatoon office. The focus of the role is to: 1) support the Administration team by providing back-up centralized reception coverage for peak periods, breaks, and vacations, and 2) independently manage the completion of error free, high volume update reports and email correspondence for private sector clients.

Additional responsibilities include general office administration, scanning, and providing support to other team members with the completion of appraisal reports. The role is fast paced, with a variety of responsibilities, and provides the opportunity to grow and expand within and beyond the role requirements.

THE REQUIREMENTS

  • A certificate or diploma from a recognized administrative program or equivalent.
  • Two to three years office administrative or related experience.
  • Extensive experience using Microsoft Office Suite; expertise with Word and Excel.
  • Exceptional written and oral English language skills.
  • Proficient, accurate and fast keyboarding skills (60 wpm minimum).
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new software applications.
